Remember the classic RTS known as Command & Conquer? Well, an enterprising coder, Aditya Ravi Shankar, actually recreated the strategy game using nothing but HTML5, where it runs on 69k of Javascript. Why did he set out on such an adventure? For starters, Shankar’s attempt was a self-mandated undertaking in order to improve his coding skills, where he gave himself a one month window to rebuild the game in the browser, and had to comb through the original game’s files in order to obtain all the right sprites, sounds and specs. According to Shankar, “In hindsight, I might have wanted to take smaller steps and make a tower defense game instead of jumping directly into an RTS. Trying to do the whole thing in under a month all by myself wasn’t the smartest idea.” As part of Shankar’s recreation of Command & Conquer, it included buildings, terrain, combat, tiberium harvesting and regrowth, in addition to the ability to sell and repair buildings. You want fog of war? It has that, too, in addition to a pannable map, different cursors, …

HTC Hero Cell Phone Review–Steep Learning Curve So the folks out at Wirefly sent me an HTC Hero to try, and though it took me a while to ultimately get the hang of it, I still found plenty to like about this Google-driven phone. The HTC Hero is a candy bar style smartphone that offers conference call capability, voice recorder, a trackball navigation system, speakerphone, Sprint TV, calendar, calculator, mobile email, mobile web with WiFi capability, a Twitter application called Peep, a stock ticker, YouTube browser, five megapixel camera ...

Blackberry Curve 8350i Cell Phone Review–Solid and Useful The folks out at Wirefly sent me a Blackberry Curve 8350i to review, and I have to admit, I really liked this one. And I had a lot of good reason to like it, too, so let’s check out the phone that got my attention in a thoroughly happy fashion. The Blackberry Curve 8350i is a candy bar style smartphone with Sprint / Nextel that offers the standard Blackberry trackball, Bluetooth connectivity, mobile web, mobile email, a two megapixel camera with flash, ...
Woman Suing Google Over Walking Directions That Got Her Hit By a Car [Badjudgment]

Woman Suing Google Over Walking Directions That Got Her Hit By a Car [Badjudgment] I trust Google with a lot of things, but when in doubt I always fall back on good-old common sense. Lauren Rosenberg did not. She walked onto a highway because Google told her to and got hit by a car. Rosenberg, who apparently takes things very literally, was reading the directions on her Blackberry and thus wasn't privy to the warning that shows up when you access walking directions on a computer: Walking directions ...

Blackberry Pearl 8130 Cell Phone Review–A Serious Kludge
April 15, 2010 – 2:44 am | No Comment
Blackberry Pearl 8130 Cell Phone Review–A Serious Kludge I’ve had a rough time with Blackberry products in the past–their controls are often heavily flawed and their content offerings are staid, boring, and often less than complete. The Blackberry Pearl 8130 is one of the least pleasant Blackberry items I’ve ever handled, and thanks go out to the folks at Wirefly for sending me one to try. The Blackberry 8130 is a candy bar style Blackberry smartphone that offers a voice recorder, speakerphone, conference call capability, Bluetooth connectivity, mobile web, mobile email, support for ...

BlackBerry 9650 delayed
February 21, 2010 – 11:35 pm | No Comment
BlackBerry 9650 delayed It seems that folks who are with Verizon and are looking forward to the BlackBerry 9650 will be disappointed, since an insider from RIM (Research In Motion) mentioned that Verizon will only roll out the 9650 when the official OS 5.0 arrives for the Tour 9630. As it stands, Sprint's bunch of 9650’s are experiencing Wi-Fi issues, and Sprint are hard at work rectifying that. Patience is always a good thing after all.
