BlackBerry PlayBook reportedly in production

It appears that we might be getting our BlackBerry PlayBooks by March or earlier – if recent reports turn out to be accurate. According to DigiTimes, RIM has begun production of their QNX tablets and they expect have 150,000 to 200,000 PlayBooks made each month. RIM chose a factory in Taiwan called quanta Computer Inc. to manufacture their tablets instead of a factory on the mainland of China to help prevent other manufacturers from copying their designs, ...
Leaked! Blackberry Curve Touch

A sure sign that things a changin’ over at RIM HQ, the keyboard-less Curve Touch — codenamed “Malibu” — has today leaked out into the wilds of the web, courtesy of CrackBerry.com . This comes just a week after we spied a keyboard totin’ next-gen Curve , known internally as the “Sedona”, so those die-hard keyboard fans need not fret: mid-range Blackberry lovers will have a choice of hard and soft keyboards. Any leak worth its salt also provides some specs, and this one — while only ...
Sanyo Taho Cell Phone Review–Rugged Quality Short On Features

We finish out the week with a bit of a surprise dark horse from Sprint, the Sanyo Taho. It’s not going to be anything particularly fancy, but what it will be is still something to see.
The Sanyo Taho is a flip phone with Bluetooth connectivity, speakerphone capability, a GPS system, a phone book with sufficient room for six hundred entries, text messaging, multimedia messaging, calendar, calculator, alarm clock, stopwatch, a twelve megapixel camera with several ...
YouMail’s Visual Voicemail App Surpasses 2 Million Downloads, Mostly BlackBerry Users

Voicemail is dead . Visual Voicemail, however, is a different story. Those who have it love it — and those that don’t have it, want it. Even if you loathe voicemail as much as we do, you’re going to have to check yours sooner or later ( or not ) — and unless you like spending 10 minutes touchtoning your way through a system built a decade ago, doing it through Visual Voicemail is the only way to go. Unfortunately, Visual Voicemail still isn’t a standard feature ...
RIM Acquires TAT, Promises Better UI on BlackBerry Phone, PlayBook Tablet

Research in Motion's mobile computing devices, including the company's BlackBerry smartphones and its upcoming PlayBook tablet, will soon be getting a user interface facelift thanks to a recent acquisition of TAT, known as The Astonishing Tribe. TAT has shown off clever user interfaces and was instrumental in creating the UI design for the first iteration of Google's Android OS. Combining RIM's ease of ...
The Inexpensive Huawei Ascend From Cricket Does The Pre-Paid Android Dance

The pre-paid wireless carrier, Cricket, is getting serious about smartphones. The Huawei Ascend joins the BlackBerry Curve 8530 and the Android-powered Kyocera Zio, but hits at only $149 rather than $229 like the two other smartphones. Don’t think it’s lack, either, because it’s rather loaded for a contract-free smatphone. A 3.5-inch HVGA screen is front and center, while a 3.2MP cam is around back. Android 2.1 powers the device and offers all the bells and whistle you’d expect including full access to the Android market. Simply put, ...

Microsoft is no stranger to odd advertising. While I do get what they're trying to say with their two latest WP7 ads (showing the HTC Mondrian), the message still aims left of what they're trying to achieve.
Take a look at the ads below and tell me I'm not imagining things. Sure, I may spend a lot of time stroking the ...
Air Visibility Monitoring Android App

This is an app known as Air Visibility Monitoring, which will allow you to see how polluted the air is.
All that is required is to take a picture of the sky, and then frame the area there. After it is compiled, you will find the information about the air pollution.
This could be an eye-opener, but I’m not certain how accurate a photo-taking app can be.

BlackBerry Torch Review

The Blackberry Torch has been launched recently with relatively little fanfare, but signs point to the fact that it has taken the position of "best blackberry ever" from the
Bold 9700. The Torch is now available on AT&T's network and other carriers will undoubtedly follow. Because it features a touch screen, a physical keyboard and an updated OS
+ browser, the Blackberry Torch goes above and beyond any ...
RIM to Apple: Man up and leave us out of it

RIM has issued a statement regarding Apple’s explanation of the antenna issue from Friday , which of course used a Blackberry as well as other phones to demonstrate signal loss. I’ll let it speak for itself: Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully ...
