Well, you have to hand it to the strategy team over at Zipcar . Arguably the largest on-demand car-sharing network, Zipcar went public last year and not long after saw its market cap cross $1 billion . It’s since fallen back, and with collaborative consumption and the market for car-sharing heating up, the big players have to make moves. Zipcar has since forged a partnership with Ford, making it the largest provider of cars for Zipcar’s University program , and, in December, the company took a controlling stake in Spain’s largest car-sharing network, Avancar . Today finds Zipcar making another strategic move to get its mitts in fellow car-sharing companies, again with a focus on universities, whose students are among the most eager adopters of car-sharing models. What do I mean? The company today announced that it is a lead investor in the $13.7 million series A financing of Wheelz , a junior, university-focused version of itself. The Detroit-based Fontinalis…

What’s that?” A good, honest question, amigo. The long and short of it is that every time you save your game (provided the game works with the new service, which is said to be named “Online ...

Xbox 360 toaster mod doesn’t make toast, might deter thieves Some people read comics or play ball when they get bored. What does a modder by the name of "akatheguy2" do? He splices an Xbox 360 with a toaster — and makes it actually look good.

Kinect used to control Super Mario on a PC, redefine convergence (video) If, like us, you've been waiting to see Kinect in control of a truly marquee game, your wait has now come to an end. The same fella that brought us the Kinect lightsaber has returned with a hack enabling eager nostalgics to enjoy a bout of Super Mario controlled only by their body contortions. OpenKinect was used to get the motion-sensing peripheral -- originally intended exclusively for use with an Xbox 360 -- to communicate ...
N-Control Avenger gives your Xbox 360 controller hair triggers (video)

N-Control Avenger gives your Xbox 360 controller hair triggers (video) We happen to like our existing Xbox 360 controller, squeaky triggers and all, and though we're eagerly awaiting an improved D-pad it hadn't really occurred to us that some might prefer an overhaul. N-Control, however, has done just that with this insane lever-filled shell, which wraps around the gamepad to provide simultaneous control over a host of inputs at once. The idea is that you'll never need to take your thumbs off the analog sticks ...

Early Sales Data Shows Microsoft Sold 425K Kinects, Kinect Sports Is Top-Selling Game In its first two days of availability Microsoft sold 475,000 Kinect units. Well, according to VG Chartz’s data , and I’m not exactly sure VG Chartz is 100 percent bulletproof. The top-selling stand-alone game (Kinect Aventures was bundled with the Xbox 360 Kinect bundle) is Kinect Sports. After that it’s Dance Central. You’ll recall that I played Dance Central at E3 , promptly making a fool out of myself in the process. I suppose if you’re looking for launch software, though, the game’s not bad. If the ...

Help Key: Watch Netflix from outside the U.S.

Help Key: Watch Netflix from outside the U.S. You Americans have all the good stuff. Stuff like BP pumping oil in the Ocean and guns, lots of guns. And then you have Netflix . Sweet Netflix. Us foreigners are wondering what it feels like to have a service like that. Now I know. In Europe we also have online movie services. They are completely useless unless you are prepared to pay 3€ ($5) for a single movie for 24 hours. The content of these services is not very satisfying either. This is of course not ...
