First Look: Tom Bihn Ristretto bag for iPad

I blame Steve Sande for my newest iPad-related purchase. Well, there’s a lot of things to blame Steve for, but it was his reviews of the Tom Bihn Western Flyer and Checkpoint Flyer that had me checking out the company he bought the bags from last year. Tom Bihn is based in Seattle and has the distinction of being among those rare companies that still makes its products in the U.S. using mostly U.S.-produced materials. After having my iPad and accessories bounce around a larger bag for a few weeks, I caved and placed…

Developers: iOS 4.1 Beta 2 is now available If you're a card-carrying iOS developer, trot on over to the developer page and grab the latest beta of iOS 4.1. As everyone is reporting, it's been about two weeks since 4.1 Beta 1 crash-landed, so maybe we're just a couple of weeks away from a release for the rest of us? That'd be nice, considering some iOS 4 woes on older iPhones, ...

American Heart Association approves of the Nintendo Wii Yesterday, when we reported about how Nintendo and the American Heart Association had something planned for Monday, most people suspected the Vitality Sensor. Turns out, it isn’t a new gadget that was the announcement, but rather an older one. The AHA is apparently putting its personal stamp on the Wii, such as games like Wii Fit Plus and the Wii Sports Resort. By the way, the American Heart Association said that they will be receiving 1.5 million ...

Japanese hardware sales, April 12 – April 18: Dry spell edition Poor, poor April. After a quarter of pretty enormous video game releases, we've seen a noticeable slowdown over the past 25 days. Normally, we'd relish the opportunity to get caught up on the surplus the past few months have brought us, but ... well, we miss the action! The excitement! The variety! The occasional disappointment! In an attempt to recapture these raw emotions, we've been forced to seek out other hobbies with even more frequent additions. Like, for instance, comic books. There's new ...

Astro A30 Cross-Gaming Headset is the Swiss Army knife of headphones Forget how it sounds or if it cancels noise or whatnot, Astro Gaming's A30 Cross-Gaming Headset has the kind of hook I never even knew I was looking for. As the name implies, a set of A30s comes with three different cable adapters that'll work with pretty much any game console or handheld you've got, including the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, iPhone, Nintendo DS or PSP, and you can even answer the phone with it. ...

Interview: Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells Evan Wells doesn't look like he's old enough to be co-president of Naughty Dog, does he? Even after shepherding Uncharted 2 through development, which has picked up just about every award on the planet, he still maintains his youthful vim and vigor. While we don't know what his eternal youth secret is, he did give us the inside scoop on the workings at Naughty Dog when we spoke with him at GDC. Besides letting ...

Japanese hardware sales, Feb. 15 – Feb. 21: Stationary Year edition [Image via mlive] We think we can all agree that Leap Years are like, the best thing ever. It's an extra day! An extra 24 hours you can spend doing whatever you want, unless it falls on a work day, in which case, you'll probably spend it working. It augments the month of February, changing it from a truncated, dissatisfying calendar partition into a slightly less truncated, dissatisfying calendar partition. We had planned out a ton of ...

Japanese hardware sales, Feb. 1 – Feb. 7: Valentiney edition Most of the younger interns here at the Japanese Hardware Sales Chart institute have had their wills systematically broken down, turning them into unfeeling, number-crunching machines. Still, we think it's important to give them one day a year -- Valentine's Day -- where they're allowed to experience that saccharine emotion known as love. Of course, we don't allow them to experience it first-hand -- that could lead to all kinds of scandalous behavior. No, we simply show them cutscenes from our favorite love ...

Windows Phone 7 Series: Everything Is Different Now [Windows Phone 7] It's astounding that until this moment, three years after the iPhone, the biggest software company in the world basically didn't compete in mobile. Windows Phone 7 Series is more than the Microsoft smartphone we've been waiting for. Everything's different now. Today, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Microsoft is publicly previewing Windows Phone 7 for the first time. The brand new, ...
