Take a tour of Platinum Games’ new office space

Platinum Games, the wordsmiths behind Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Bayonetta, moved its offices down one entire floor in Japan's Umeda Sky Building, from the ninth to the eighth, and took the opportunity to remodel its layout. The new Platinum offices have color-coded conference rooms. Personally, we like the vibe in the Red Room, probably because we can picture ourselves sitting across from Don Draper, drinking scotch on the rocks while our children grow up without us....

Sony racks up over 6.5 million in PlayStation sales over holiday season

Looks like Sony is reaping the benefits of strong holiday sales for its range of consoles coming under the PlayStation umbrella. After introducing the PS Vita early in December, the company managed to shift about 500,000 units in its own backyard, while ageing predecessor, the PSP, continued to sell 1.6 million units worldwide. The former, rather obviously, allows users to manipulate images and icons with their sure-handed fingers on any surface, while the latter, known ...

Pippin Barr first hit our radar in September when he made a game so boring it couldn't be ignored -- and it seems he's done it again. And again. And again. Barr's games are made to be simple exercises in thought and social commentary; at least we hope they are, because otherwise they're simply extremely tedious and don't offer any reward for effort exerted.
His most recent installment, Let's Play: Ancient Greek Punishment, offers insight into the ...
GameStop’s Prototype 2 pre-order bonus is actually called ‘Butt Kicker’

If you pre-order Prototype 2 from GameStop, you'll get a modified version of the game's Bio-Bomb ability. As opposed to tossing infected enemies and watching them explode, the "Butt Kicker" ability allows you to kick them. In the butt. Really hard.
It's perhaps a strange motivation for pre-orders, but, as the video above makes clear, it's hard to deny the maneuver's effectiveness.

Nintendo tells developers not to share digital sales numbers

Richard Hill-Whittall is the owner and director of Icon Games Entertainment, and his company has released several games in the last year for various platforms, including WiiWare. He recently shared some sales numbers over on Gamasutra, but was asked by Nintendo to take the numbers for its platforms down. According to Hill-Whittall, Nintendo doesn't allow developers to share digital sales numbers for self-published WiiWare and downloadable DS titles.
That's an interesting tack to take, and Hill-Whittall argues ...
