If you’ve purchased either the Nikon D4 or the D800, you might be one of the unlucky owners who is currently experiencing camera lockups. This issue has been reported on last month whereby the camera basically becomes unresponsive until the battery has been removed and reinserted. The good news is that Nikon has since come forward with a statement acknowledging the issue and is currently working on a more permanent solution. In the mean time, the Japanese camera manufacturer has offered users a temporary solution which they claim will provide a fix until a more permanent method can be found. This involves users turning off both “Highlights” and “RGB Histogram” display options in the “Playback Display Options” sub-menu. If you’re a D4/D800 owner and you’re experiencing the problem described above, check out Nikon’s temporary solution and let us know how that worked out for you. By Ubergizmo . Related articles :
Okay Nikon owners, stop laughing at your 5D Mark III cronies for their leaky problem . That might be a drip in the pail next to your own worries — namely, possible “lock-up”, focus and viewfinder hitches on your D800 or D4 . Nikon verified that a “small number” of units of both DSLRs can lock up and become unresponsive, but until there’s a permanent patch you can prevent this by disabling both highlight and RGB histogram displays. The company also verified that a “run” of D800s is suffering from a viewfinder bug, although it has yet to confirm another emerging problem with autofocus in some units, which apparently requires a factory fix. So, if you’ve noticed any of this with your pricey new D800, or really pricey D4, your best bet might be to reach out to your Nikon repair center post-haste. And don’t let the Canon guys see you. BeClose is a small but interesting start-up in Tysons Corner, Virginia. They make home monitoring systems for the elderly, allowing them to stay at home even when they may be fragile or lack motility. The system consists of a number of motion sensors as well as a weight pad (to see when they’re sleeping) and a panic button that notifies the authorities and kin if there’s something wrong. The new update to the UI creates a dashboard experience for caregivers. They can see, at a glance, sleep patterns, movement, and even weight. If something is amiss – like they’re not getting out of bed after a certain time or whether they’re leaving the house too little or too much – you can either call in to see what’s up or go visit. Anyway, would it kill you to maybe go visit your mother? Hmm? The system is completely wireless and it can even send alerts when your parent does something in the house…
During the conference call this afternoon for their first quarter earnings , LinkedIn executives boasted about the impressive mobile growth they’re seeing. In the last week of March, the company says mobile accounted for 22 percent of unique visitors, up 8 percent from the same period last year. And although he wouldn’t share any numbers, CEO Jeff Weiner said adoption of the recently launched iPad app has exceeded the company’s “aggressive” expectations. Weiner mentioned the iPad app again when asked about the areas where the company is strongest right now. But one analyst asked: Is that entirely a good thing? Since LinkedIn (and other Web companies) have been slower to monetize on mobile, could the shift actually hurt the company’s revenue? Weiner argued that it should be “accretive” because “our intention is to bring all of our business lines into the mobile environment.” That means premium members should get premium access on the mobile app, and yes, it…
If you’re a smartphone fan (of course you are, if you’re not then you’re almost certainly in the wrong place, can we ask how you even got here?) then you’ve almost certainly been bitten by the bug of a battery that just doesn’t last long enough, the normal side effect of a data hungry lifestyle. HTC says it feels your pain however, and thinks it’s done quite a bit to lick the issue with its latest flagship phone, the HTC One X . In reports consistent with our experience with the dual-core AT&T iteration , a blog post on the company’s site notes several others that have tested it out and come away impressed with the battery life it shows. While our tests with the quad-core global version left something to be desired HTC says the One bests the old Sensation by as much as 147 percent when it comes to talk time, and 39 percent in video
The reason 3D sucks is that it’s usually not 3D. It’s 2D, plus a token smidge of depth. True 3D is something that you can walk entirely around and seamlessly view from all sides, which is what you’ll find in this life-sized telepod that can project an entire person straight into your living room.
