Well, you have to hand it to the strategy team over at Zipcar . Arguably the largest on-demand car-sharing network, Zipcar went public last year and not long after saw its market cap cross $1 billion . It’s since fallen back, and with collaborative consumption and the market for car-sharing heating up, the big players have to make moves. Air Visibility Monitoring Android App
September 25, 2010 – 8:05 pm | No Comment
Air Visibility Monitoring Android App This is an app known as Air Visibility Monitoring, which will allow you to see how polluted the air is. All that is required is to take a picture of the sky, and then frame the area there. After it is compiled, you will find the information about the air pollution. This could be an eye-opener, but I’m not certain how accurate a photo-taking app can be. Source Related Post...

App Review: Send fantastical armies into battle with Ex Illis on your iPhone (i)Pawn can turn your iPhone into a board game playing surface, but what if you want to expand your battles onto a much bigger playing field, one with mages and cavalry and archangels and big monsters? Then your best option is Ex illis, a new game that uses your iPhone or iPad as a game computer (technically, the "Rule Keeper software") while you act as general and overlord and maneuver your many ...

Verizon CEO confirms plans for tiered data pricing We told you so. The Wall Street Journal has updated its recent article detailing disclosures from Verizon Wireless chief Ivan Seidenberg, and the latest news is as bad as it is predictable: VZW plans to consign unlimited data plans to the annals of history over the next four to six months, to be replaced by tiered, consumption-based pricing. Luckily, Samsung has assured us that the GPS problem is nothing more ...
5 apps for nostalgia

5 apps for nostalgia Here's another entry in our "Five Apps For" series, which identifies five iPhone/iPod touch apps that fill a specific niche, appeal to a particular crowd, or cover an area of interest. Enjoy! As an aging child of the 70's and 80's (I'll be 40 in January), I'm feeling nostalgic for the past while cozying up to my own mortality. Call it a mid-life crisis, regression or what have you, but I'm thinking about the old days. ...

No Comment: The iPhone of night clubs Um, yeah. That seems about right. San Francisco local blog SFist spotted this one outside of a nightclub over on Polk Street in that fair city, and we'll go ahead and repost it here for your smirking amusement with no comment. Even if you're fine with your iPhone's reception, you have to admit that's an excellent pun. We will say kudos to Red Devil -- it's a rare company that can fess up to ...

Chasing the Perfect Cup of Coffee Through Science [Coffee]

Chasing the Perfect Cup of Coffee Through Science [Coffee] This coffee sucks. It's the second cup I've made in a row. It's sour and grassy. It should taste like red grapes and strawberry. I know exactly how bad it is, and I haven't even tasted it yet. People accept scientific measurements as the truth about a lot of things. Mass. The temperature at which water freezes. The size of the earth. But it's hard to swallow the idea of scientifically measuring how something ...
Apple Finally Lets A Google Voice Application Into The App Store (Again)
September 19, 2010 – 9:52 pm | No Comment
Apple Finally Lets A Google Voice Application Into The App Store (Again) Google Voice applications have had a pretty tumultuous history in the App Store. At first, Apple approved them, and the people rejoiced. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, they were pulled, with “duplicating features that the iPhone comes with (Dialer, SMS, etc).” cited as the reasoning. The people were, understandably, pretty friggin’ mad. Over the past few days, the developers of at least two such applications have been indicating that they’d been hearing good news from Apple, suggesting that the Apps would be making an Apple-approved, no-jailbreak-required return. ...
