First Look: Tom Bihn Ristretto bag for iPad
June 26, 2010 – 1:06 pm | No Comment

I blame Steve Sande for my newest iPad-related purchase. Well, there’s a lot of things to blame Steve for, but it was his reviews of the Tom Bihn Western Flyer and Checkpoint Flyer that had me checking out the company he bought the bags from last year. Tom Bihn is based in Seattle and has the distinction of being among those rare companies that still makes its products in the U.S. using mostly U.S.-produced materials. Only a few components are sourced from overseas, but those parts are fully disclosed. Tom Bihn was also had gear designed specifically iPad right off the bat, announcing its offerings — The Ristretto and the Cache for iPad — just hours after the original iPad announcement. The US$110 Ristretto, which also comes in a larger size designed to hold a MacBook, is a vertical messenger bag with a padded area that is large enough to hold a netbook or an iPad. After having my iPad and accessories bounce around a larger bag for a few weeks, I caved and placed…

15 ways to fall in love with the iPad, despite its flaws Is the world going to change just because Apple decided to enlarge its iPod Touch? In a word, yes. The iPad is here, and because of its appealing design and tremendous selection of software, it's a sure-fire hit. Apple's long-anticipated tablet PC takes everything that was good about the iPhone and iPod Touch and enlarges it to a size that's comfortable to read and easy to see. Read along as we show you how the ...
What’s next for Apple after the iPad?
April 3, 2010 – 7:05 pm | No Comment
What’s next for Apple after the iPad? I saw this on one of the tech blogs that I read everyday, and thought it looked interesting. Unfortunately, I don’t know if it is real, and the April 1st posting date doesn’t help. I mean, a head mounted display in the form of a monocle? I’ve heard that it is called the “iPatch”. I don’t think that there is any 3D available on this guy. Still, this leads me to wonder what the heck will Apple do after the ...
iPad launch first look: Things for iPad
April 3, 2010 – 7:04 pm | No Comment
Cultured Code has released the iPad version of their classic iPhone task list app, Things. The new Things for iPad (US$19.99), as you can see in the video above, is absolutely gorgeous on the new Apple platform, and benefits greatly from the larger layout. I've personally downloaded the iPad version, synced my tasks, and the app seems like it's a natural part of the iPad. We'll be publishing a full review of Things for iPad soon. In the meanwhile, feast your ...
iDisplay app turns your iPad or iPhone into secondary screen – too good to be true?

iDisplay app turns your iPad or iPhone into secondary screen – too good to be true? How cool is this? iDisplay is an app that tricks your computer into thinking you’ve got a secondary display attached, and then pushes what would be on that display onto your iPad or iPhone. That’s… brilliant. I mean, I can think of about a billion uses for this. As many uses as I have uses for my actual computer, in fact. The problem is that there’s some latency, as it sends the display information over wi-fi, so you can’t watch video or play games on it, or ...
Why AIM for the iPad makes no sense
April 2, 2010 – 5:40 pm | No Comment
Why AIM for the iPad makes no sense AOL has updated its instant messaging app for the iPhone and the iPod Touch with entirely new features for the iPad. It's obviously bigger, for one, which gives AIM a little more room to breathe, showing your active chats, the person your talking to and your contact list all in side-by-side panels. You can also keep up with your social networking feeds from sites such as Facebook and Foursquare, and upload pictures to AOL's Lifestream service if you're into ...
1Password for iPad will be free upgrade from iPhone version
April 2, 2010 – 5:40 pm | No Comment
1Password for iPad will be free upgrade from iPhone version Agile Web Solutions, the company behind 1Password, has laid out what I have seen as the most sensible model so far for pricing on iPad apps. They announced on their blog how the new apps will work: They are selling 1Password for iPad for $6.99 and it is aimed at people who do not and will not own the iPhone/iPod touch versions. This version will be all iPad, all the time....
More Data over Voice Services in Usage

More Data over Voice Services in Usage With the release of such mobile devices like the iPhone and the Android-based phones, it is not surprising to find that data usage has become more in demand over the traditional voice services. It seems that this has been the trend and it seems imminent that this will continue to do so. Some phones like the Google Nexus One and the iPhone have focused a lot on data services, allowing users to ...

Not really a big surprise: iPhone multitasking to use “Expose-like” interface

Not really a big surprise: iPhone multitasking to use “Expose-like” interface We know iPhone OS 4 is in the pipes, and I imagine this little nugget of information is far from the only inklings we’ll have of new iPhone features over the next few months. Despite the extraordinary length of the Apple Insider article , there’s really only one piece of new information: the iPhone will be using an Expose-like interface to let you switch between apps, though due to scaling issues it is apparently only using the apps’ icons and not current screenshots. It’ll be triggered, they ...
