Google has just annoucneed that all Android powered devices with version 1.6 or above will be getting a brand new version of Google Maps a la the Marketplace. There’s no killer features in the update but it does feature some things that many of you may take to quite well.

First of all, it adds the ability to get and create directions for bicycle routes in addition to being able to share a bunch of different things through email, Facebook, Twitter and pretty mcuh every other social network you can think of.

Of course, there’s also a Google Maps Navigation icon that will be placed on your home screen, not really a feature, more of a necessity.
