Well, an enterprising coder, Aditya Ravi Shankar, actually recreated the strategy game using nothing but HTML5, where it runs on 69k of Javascript. Why did he set out on such an adventure? For starters, Shankar’s attempt was a self-mandated undertaking in order to improve his coding skills, where he gave himself a one month window to rebuild the game in the browser, and had to comb through the original game’s files in order to obtain all the right sprites, sounds and specs. According to Shankar, “In hindsight, I might have wanted to take smaller steps and make a tower defense game instead of jumping directly into an RTS. Just before it’s official US release, Samsung has announced that the Wave smartphone is the world’s first phone to receive certification for HD DivX playback, supporting 720p HD video. The Wave also has Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.11n standard, and a gorgeous 3.3-inch Super AMOLED On-Cell display. The Wave will run on bada, Samsung’s new Smartphone platform.

Samsung also announced that the upcoming Galazy S, with a 4.5″ display is also certified for DivX HD. With its Super-AMOLED screen, HD should be pretty stunning.

Watching movies on the go just got better. What do you think — on a screen that small, does HD really matter to you?
