Remember the classic RTS known as Command & Conquer? Well, an enterprising coder, Aditya Ravi Shankar, actually recreated the strategy game using nothing but HTML5, where it runs on 69k of Javascript. Why did he set out on such an adventure? For starters, Shankar’s attempt was a self-mandated undertaking in order to improve his coding skills, where he gave himself a one month window to rebuild the game in the browser, and had to comb through the original game’s files in order to obtain all the right sprites, sounds and specs. According to Shankar, “In hindsight, I might have wanted to take smaller steps and make a tower defense game instead of jumping directly into an RTS. Finally, Mattel makes foldable R/C cars, just what we’ve always wanted. These Stealth Rides, barely the size of a USB key, come nestled inside a credit card sized remote control. Set to roll out at the Toy Fair in New York next month, the $25 minicars will make their debut on the market in August.

Pushed a button and the tiny flat car unfolds itself from its credit card moorings, turning into something that looks more like a minuscule boat. Mattel plans to roll out five different models of this pocket-sized trinket, and one of them will be the Batmobile Tumbler.

The most remarkable spec: 30 minutes of running time on a charge. We’ll believe that when we see it.
