Remember the classic RTS known as Command & Conquer? Well, an enterprising coder, Aditya Ravi Shankar, actually recreated the strategy game using nothing but HTML5, where it runs on 69k of Javascript. Why did he set out on such an adventure? For starters, Shankar’s attempt was a self-mandated undertaking in order to improve his coding skills, where he gave himself a one month window to rebuild the game in the browser, and had to comb through the original game’s files in order to obtain all the right sprites, sounds and specs. According to Shankar, “In hindsight, I might have wanted to take smaller steps and make a tower defense game instead of jumping directly into an RTS. Some pictures of user experience (UX) concepts have surfaced on the Internet, and according to the person who came up with the designs, he worked for Microsoft on UX design for Windows Mobile 7. Some examples of the designs have been posted, though you can’t really confirm how accurate it is until the real deal is unveiled (probably at the upcoming Mobile World Congress). In his own words:

“NDA dictates I keep this vague. For a leading cell platform I created UX flows of common controls and usages. After client review I created flash demos. Those demo’s were then reviewed and passed on to SectionSeven development to create interactive prototypes”

Do you think these are legit, or just something that should be left in the rumor bin?
