Command & Conquer coded in HTML5

Remember the classic RTS known as Command & Conquer? Well, an enterprising coder, Aditya Ravi Shankar, actually recreated the strategy game using nothing but HTML5, where it runs on 69k of Javascript. Why did he set out on such an adventure? For starters, Shankar’s attempt was a self-mandated undertaking in order to improve his coding skills, where he gave himself a one month window to rebuild the game in the browser, and had to comb through the original game’s files in order to obtain all the right sprites, sounds and specs. According to Shankar, “In hindsight, I might have wanted to take smaller steps and make a tower defense game instead of jumping directly into an RTS. Trying to do the whole thing in under a month all by myself wasn’t the smartest idea.” As part of Shankar’s recreation of Command & Conquer, it included buildings, terrain, combat, tiberium harvesting and regrowth, in addition to the ability to sell and repair buildings. You want fog of war? It has that, too, in addition to a pannable map, different cursors, …

LG UX840 Triton Cell Phone Review–Versatile If A Bit Lacking

569513f4e9ux840.jpg LG UX840 Triton Cell Phone Review–Versatile If A Bit LackingLG products usually do all right by me. They’re not always jam-packed with features, but they do a passable job of supplying a decent phone. The LG UX840 Triton is a textbook example of LG at its most frequently seen.

The LG UX840 Triton phone is a slider style phone with three hundred meg of onboard memory, GPS, a battery capable of two hundred and ten minutes of talk time, web browsing, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, a three megapixel camera, speakerphone, calendar, world clock, alarm, stopwatch, calculator, currency converter, notepad and downloadable games.

First, I love the versatility of this phone, seeing as it has both a trackpeg and a full QWERTY keyboard. Call it irrational preference if you must, but I personally dislike phones that are heavy on the touchpad. I like something with controls on the phone itself.

But the LG UX840 Triton definitely managed to bring plenty of versatility to its controls, even if it was a little lacking in the special features department. There’s plenty to like here and you shouldn’t be disappointed, but features buffs should definitely look elsewhere.

The Good

Trackpad AND keyboard

Terrific versatility

The Bad

A bit lacking in features

Score 7/10
